I traveled to D.C. on 9/12 for the big march on the Capitol, and did it cheaply and efficiently by going by rail. A fellow patriot in Ft. Lauderdale organized a group and got a good rate on AmTrak. If we can get 20 or more people organized in Florida, we can get a special rate and there will be no hotels or other fees. Here's how it worked in September '09:
We got on the train on 9/11 - most of the group boarded in Ft. Lauderdale, but we had people getting on in DeLand and a few other places. In JAX, about 100 more people got on, so we had about 3 carloads of patriots. I got on the train at about 3 PM in DeLand. The train arrived in D.C. Union Station around 7:30 on 9/12, and we all transferred to the subway to get to Freedom Square, where the march began at around 11 AM.
After the march, we all met back at Union Station (it's only a few blocks from the Capitol) and got back on the train around 7:30 PM on the 12th. I was back in DeLand by 3 PM on the 13th. Both ways was a great party, with little sleep. Great experience and not costly. I'm a senior, and my round-trip ticket was about $140...it was around $160 for the younger group.
It would be nice if we could do the same thing for this 2nd Amendment march. I'm not really sure how to go about organizing this, but I do know that Jerry Bell, the organizer in Ft. Lauderdale collected the money from all of us and did the scheduling. It's not long until April so we'd have to get something going soon. Any ideas? Any interest?
